How we can help
Holistic Massage
About Holistic Massage
A holistic massage is an individual massage treatment specifically tailored to each client. As there is no fixed routine, each massage is unique. An holistic approach treats the body as a whole, and as a holistic massage practitioner Josie may take into account your emotional well-being, as well as your physical body.
Josie uses a wide range of massage techniques, including gentle massage, stretches, joint mobilisation, percussion, relaxation work and deep tissue techniques. The holistic approach allows her to apply this breadth of techniques flexibly, determining what is appropriate to your needs at that particular time.
As a holistic massage practitioner she massages the person, not just the body. Working ‘with’ you rather than giving a massage ‘to’ you. This ensures you receive the most beneficial massage.
Frequently asked questions
How can massage help me?
Massage is beneficial in a wide range of situations. Whist many people seek out massage for relaxation alone, it can be very beneficial in aiding the treatment of a great number of medical complaints. As both the body and the mind are relaxed during massage the effects are felt through all of the body’s systems. Massage can be a powerful tool in many situations..
Am I expected to take all my clothes off?
Whilst Josie usually massages directly onto the skin using oil, she is happy to massage through clothing if you would rather remain clothed. If you are comfortable with removing your clothes for the massage, they will agree upon what is best to remove and then you can change out of your clothes into a dressing gown in our changing room. When it is time to lie on the massage table, we raise the drape between us so that you can remove the dressing gown discretely and as you lie down, we place the drape over you from your neck to your feet so that you are covered. When we start the massage, we will move the drape back from the area upon which we are working and replace it when moving to any different area so that you are always predominantly covered.
As you work out of a chiropractic clinic, do you only massage people with bad backs?
